Sellers Myth: “But, I can save money if I sell it myself!”

Here’s why this is NOT the case… sellers often see us do our job and think to themselves that it looks easy. They think I can do this, all Realtors do is put it on the MLS and it sells itself!
True Story
A few weeks ago I had clients reach out and ask me to set up a showing on a new home listing in a nearby town. I of course jumped on it and scheduled the showing for later in the day when my buyers got off work.
When I logged into the MLS to schedule a showing, I received an automatic confirmation to show the home. The emailed confirmation provides Realtors with detailed showing information and lockbox codes/access information, and I’m not even kidding you, the lockbox information was as follows:
“We’ll leave the front door open and unlocked!”
I don’t know about you, I’m a fairly trusting individual but not that trusting!
I got there a couple minutes before my buyers so I let myself in through the unlocked door, removed my shoes and did a quick walk-through. Every single room had old, mismatched carpeting. The windows had old moisture stains and both bathrooms were very dated! Several areas had dated wallpaper. Sometimes spending just a little on minor updates can net you way more!!!
I immediately felt bad for the sellers.
“I’m certain if the I had listed the home,
they would have netted substantially more with my guidance.”
If you needed your eyes checked you wouldn’t call a dentist or an auto mechanic would you?
Do yourself a favor, hire a professional that knows what they’re doing and will protect you and your bottom dollar! When you hire a Realtor, you get much more than just MLS access.
